What do we mean by high quality?

Quality management

Agence Européenne de Traduction applies the AFNOR PR NF ISO 20771 and NF EN ISO 17100 standards dedicated to translation services:

  • The ISO 20771:2020 is an international standard specific to legal and judicial translations that relates to the competences and qualifications of court‑appointed translators, proof‑readers and reviewers, as well as best practices and processes having a direct impact on the quality of the legal translation. The use of output from a machine translation, even with post‑editing, is outside the scope of the ISO 20771:2020 standard, likewise for the ISO 17100:2015 standard.
  • The ISO 17100:2015 is a precisely defined international standard for the translation sector. It sets out the requirements regarding core processes, resources and other aspects necessary for providing a high‑quality translation service.

Our goal is to provide you with the best quality translations. In order to optimize the quality and rapidity of our services, all our processes are described in a quality manual intended for our clients, employees and translators.

This document enables the progress of a translation to be monitored and thus ensure that our quality commitments are maintained at each stage. Each stage is precisely defined and clearly assigned.

From the quote to the delivery of the translation and its invoicing, we are able to provide you with a progress report of your file at any given time.

This document also allows us to guarantee confidentiality.

Quality control

The basic principle consists of checks and corrections of a translation being made by a third party before publishing.

All our translations are:

  • systematically proofread by the dedicated translator,
  • checked by a translator‑proofreader qualified in the field (corrections if necessary).

Moreover, spot checks are regularly carried out on a sample of the text translated (about 10 % of the total).

We pay attention to terminology, grammar and syntax, lexis and semantics, style, local conventions and regional standards, formatting, target group and purpose of the translation. Our comments are sent to the translator.

You can contact our quality control department at: qualite@ae-traduction.com

Process

All our translations follow the same process:

  1. Client’s request (telephone call, email…).
Quote specifying cost and deadline (provided within the hour).
    Client’s approval of the quote.
  2. File opened and analysis of the document to translate.
    Choice of Project Manager.
Appointment of the appropriate translator by the Project Manager.
Documentary and terminology research if necessary (with the client).
  3. Translation of the document.
    First proofreading by a translator.
    Second proofreading by quality control.
  4. Page layout according to quote and final control.
    Creation or updating of glossaries.
  5. Delivery of the translation in the format required.
    Customer satisfaction survey.
